Five Chinese nationals were killed in a suicide bomb attack on a Chinese convoy in northwest Pakistan on Tuesday, a senior police official said.
A suicide bomber rammed a vehicle packed with explosives into a convoy of Chinese engineers traveling from Islamabad to Khyber, regional police chief Mohammad Ali Gandapur told Reuters -Dasu Camp, Pakhtunkhwa Province.
Mohammad Ali Gandapur said: “Five Chinese nationals and their Pakistani driver were killed in the attack.”
Dasu is home to a large dam and the area has been hit in the past. In 2021, a bus exploded, killing 13 people, including nine Chinese citizens.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police reached the spot and started rescue operations. Mohammad Ali Gandapur said others in the convoy were being protected.
