Succession’s Jeremy Strong reveals a SHOCKING alternate ending

Successor Jeremy Strong has unveiled a shocking alternate ending to the show, which concluded in spectacular style on Sunday.

The actor, who plays Kendall Roy on the show, spoke to Kara Swisher on the official Succession podcast about his improvisation of his character’s final scene, in which he attempted to jump into a river – unbeknownst to the cast and crew.

Kendall had his dreams crushed when his sister Shiv betrayed him and blocked him from becoming the CEO of their late father’s company Waystar Royco and in the aftermath of the betrayal, he is seen on a couch with his nanny watching.

Jeremy, who has spoken about his method acting in the past, revealed that he actually climbed over the railing to fight his way into the water before being rescued by Scott Nicholson’s character Colin, his nanny who was formerly his father’s driver used to be.

He said, “I got up and walked slowly to the barrier that was there and climbed over it. And I wasn’t quite sure what I was up to. And the actor who played Colin saw me and ran and stopped me.”

Succession came to an epic conclusion on Sunday night with the 90-minute series finale, which set social media ablaze with reactions.

The final episode – titled With Open Eyes – led up to Waystar Royco’s important board meeting, where the final vote on the merger with Lukas Matsson’s – played by Alexander Skarsgard – GoJo was held.

The episode’s many twists, iconic moments, and standout lines were so popular that topics like “Tom Wambsgans,” “Kendall,” “Jeremy Strong,” and “I AM THE ELDEST BOY” were trending topics on Twitter Sunday night.

In Jeremy’s final scene, he is seen walking through the park with Colin in tow – in scenes echoing a previous moment with his father – before sitting on a bench and looking at the water, leaving questions about his mindset.

And while it seemed like the implication was that he might jump, Jeremy was tempted to jump to the conclusion himself by staging his own improv.

Ah! Despite his own intentions for the ending, he admitted that Jesse’s ending was better

He said, ‘I was watching these waves. And it was so windy that day, and so cold. And there was a piece of metal that clattered and it was a horrible sound…

“And I really couldn’t bear it. I got up and walked slowly to the barrier that was set up there and climbed over it. And I wasn’t quite sure what I was up to. And the actor who played Colin saw me and ran and stopped me.”

Despite his own intentions for the ending, he admitted that Jesse’s ending was better.

He said, “I mean, I’m sure Jesse’s choice is better. And in a way, I think you see the intentionality in the character. I mean, you said you had a feeling he was going to go in…

And I did. I tried to. It’s an utterly tragic ending, from my perspective. I think maybe that’s what Jesse meant when writing, this feeling that Kendall has lost, but maybe he’s free..

And maybe he’ll keep walking. I think I felt with everything in my body that this is not coming back.’

Outside of his improv, Brian Cox, who played Kendall’s late father Logan, spoke of Jeremy’s method acting and his aversion to the practice.

He said, “And there’s another American convention he despises — the Method who plays his co-star Jeremy Strong — who plays Kendall Roy — is so fiercely committed.

Cox detests the practice, mentioning it in his 2021 memoir Putting the Rabbit in the Hat, writing that there is “a certain amount of pain at the base of Jeremy.”

He said, “It’s really a cultural clash. I can’t stand all that American shit. I’m sorry. All that kind of “I think, therefore I feel.”

‘Just do your job. Don’t identify,” he said, referring to legendary Method actor Daniel Day Lewis. “He retired at 55, and I’m going,” that’s when the roles get really interesting. You’re retired just when the roles are really getting better!”

For what it’s worth, Strong disagrees with Cox’s assessment that he is in pain.

In a cover story for GQ, he admitted that Cox has “earned the right to say what he wants,” but said it’s his character that is hurting Kendall, not him.

Cox responded by simply saying, “I’m glad he’s not in any pain personally.”
