gentlemen Keir Starmerof labor The party has been labeled “austerity-leaning” and “leaderless”. A scathing attack from the head of one of the UK’s largest unions.

unity Secretary General Sharon Graham Warned government That Failure to prioritize workers 2026 could lead to “sowing the seeds of self-destruction”.

She also criticized Labor for being too focused on its “failed leadership” and Sir Keir’s potential successors, rather than tackling the country’s pressing problems.

written in the timesMs Graham said: “For too long, ordinary people, workers and communities have paid the price for crisis after crisis that they did not cause. By 2026, this must stop.

“The government needs to decide what it stands for and who it stands for. If we have to ask, that won’t work.

“The party faithful may be bitter about its failed leadership and the ‘Night of the Long Knives’. But a New Labor leadership adopting the same policies simply cannot solve the problem. No matter who is in Downing Street, the cycle of doom cannot be broken with more austerity.

“Britain needs vision. We led the first industrial revolution but have accomplished nothing in the fourth. We are leaderless.”

In her column, Ms Graham highlighted the party’s opposition to winter fuel subsidy cuts and the “self-inflicted harm of achieving net zero targets without necessary investment in new industry”.

She further criticized the government’s recent budget choices, arguing that “choosing a hidden tax on workers rather than a wealth tax on the super-rich is the wrong choice”.

She said: “Labour must stop being embarrassed about speaking for workers. Workers are tired of carrying the can.”

Ms Graham blamed the UK’s low productivity on “an investment strike by UK companies” rather than its workforce, describing it as a “collective failure to invest in industry while maximizing shareholder returns”.

She concluded her article by repeating her stark warning: “Labour must deliver real growth next year, borrow money to invest in Britain and create a sustainable future.

“In the coming year, if this administration does not deviate from its current path, it will certainly sow the seeds of its own destruction.”
