Chennai, October 28 (IANS) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President MK Stalin on Tuesday met AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Launching a scathing attack on Palaniswami, he accused him of “surrendering to Union Home Minister Amit Shah” and betraying the Dravidian heritage for political convenience.
Addressing a special training session titled “En Polling Station – Oru Vetriyana Polling Station” (My polling station – a victorious polling station) for DMK workers in Mamallapuram, Stalin said the upcoming 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections would be “a decisive battle to protect the state from the BJP-AIADMK alliance”.
“The 2021 elections were fought to free Tamil Nadu from the clutches of a subordinate AIADMK group. The 2026 elections will be to save our state from those who are now planning to corrupt and destroy it,” he said, reiterating his confidence that the DMK’s “Dravidian Model 2.0” government will once again be victorious.
The Chief Minister said that AIADMK, which once claimed to be a Dravidian party, has now completely mortgaged its political independence to the BJP.
“Edappadi Palaniswami has surrendered to Amit Shah. The AIADMK no longer speaks for the interests of Tamil Nadu – it only echoes the voice of Delhi,” he alleged.
Stalin also mocked Palaniswami’s efforts to form a broad opposition alliance and claimed that despite his efforts to include the DMDK, the Left and the Congress, no one was willing to join hands with the AIADMK.
“They invited everyone – VIPs, Communists, Congress – but no one went. This shows where they stand today,” he said, adding that the people of Tamil Nadu “neither want the AIADMK-BJP alliance nor believe in their false promises”.
Reaffirming his party’s commitment to the principles of social justice, secularism and state autonomy, Stalin said the DMK rule had strengthened Tamil Nadu’s economy and welfare systems in the last five years.
“We have built a prosperous Tamil Nadu. The BJP-AIADMK alliance is trying to destroy it. We will completely uproot them,” he said amid loud applause from party workers.
