Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on Sunday confirmed that star pacer Dilshan Madushanka will miss the third and final ODI against Bangladesh after suffering an injury. Madhushankar may also miss the initial phase of Mumbai Indians’ (MI) 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL), ESPNCricinfo reported. SLC confirmed on their official X (formerly Twitter) account that the 23-year-old pacer will not be part of the ongoing tour of Bangladesh. The SLC statement added that the pacer will return to his home country and undergo “rehabilitation work”.
Madhushankar was injured during the second ODI against Bangladesh in Chittagong on Friday.
“Dilshan Madushanka will not take part in the ongoing tour further as the bowler will return to start rehabilitation work after sustaining an injury in the second ODI. Madushanka left the field during the bowling of the second ODI with a left hamstring injury against An MRI scan performed by the player confirmed this,” SLC said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka head coach Mahinda Harangoda said they are not sure how long it will take Madushankar to recover.
“We just received reports of his injuries today. [Sunday], and shows a small tear. This is a new injury. We’re not yet sure how long it will take for him to recover, but he will have to be evaluated again by the High Performance Center’s medical team when he goes home. At the moment, we know that he will definitely withdraw from the ODI tomorrow,” ESPNCricinfo quoted Halangoda as saying.
Sri Lanka will play the third ODI against Bangladesh at the Zahoor Ahmed Chaudhry Stadium in Chittagong on Monday. Since both sides have won the first two encounters, the final 50-over game will be a series.
