Back in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Sunrisers Hyderabad take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their first match of the 2024 season and in the opener on Saturday, team owner Kavya Malan (Kavya Maran) has been on a roller coaster of emotions. The thrilling match saw the Knight Riders beat the Sunrisers by 4 runs, but not before wicket-keeper batsman Heinrich Klaasen nearly conceded a penalty for the South side A heroic victory was won. Needing 13 runs in the final over, Klassen scored 6 off the first ball, but everything changed after that.

Looking back at the match, SRH batted first and KKR were reduced to 51/4 in 7.3 overs. However, Phil Salt’s half-century (54 off 40 balls with three fours and three sixes) and Ramandeep Singh’s explosive knock (35 off 17 balls, four and four sixes) maintained the team’s run rate well, but they still struggled at 119/6 in 13.5 overs.
Next up, Andre Russell (64 off 25 balls with 3 fours and 7 sixes) and Rinku Singh (23 off 15 balls with 3 fours) )’s explosive 67-run partnership took KKR to 208/7 in 20 overs.
