The Philadelphia Eagles are hiring former Los Angeles Chargers and Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore as offensive coordinator, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Saturday.

Two days ago, the Eagles hired Vic Fangio as defensive coordinator, the first step in Nick Sirianni’s overhaul of the coaching staff. Moore will replace Brian Johnson, who was fired earlier this week.

Moore, 35, left Los Angeles after just one season. Prior to that, he served as the Cowboys’ offensive coordinator from 2019 to 2022, during which time his offense averaged points per game (27.7), yards per game (391) and third-down conversion rate (44%). Ranked in the top four.

He’ll be responsible for a regressed Philadelphia offense in 2023 that saw quarterback Jalen Hurts throw a career-high 15 interceptions and the Eagles slip from third in points per game (28.1) to seventh in points per game (25.5 ), points per game dropped from ninth to seventh (25.5). Dropped to 16th in excess points (241.5 YPG) (225.5), and dropped from fifth in rushing yards (147.6 YPG) to eighth (128.8).

After winning 10 of their first 11 games to open the season, the Eagles went 11-6 in play and lost 32-9 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the wild-card round.

Moore’s departure will leave a vacancy for new head coach Jim Harbaugh, whom the Los Angeles Chargers hired earlier this week.
