Some roads in Wales are to return to 30mph after nearly half a million people called for an end to the national 20mph speed limit.

Speaking to North Wales Live, the Labor MP said there was “general support” for speed limits to be implemented outside schools, housing estates and hospitals, but acknowledged many people said there were “routes that should not be included”.

“We put our hands up and said, ‘The guidance must be corrected,’” he added.

“This will enable councils to reinstate those unsuitable routes. Whether this change is radical will depend largely on what people want.”
