Lahaul and Spiti police today urged people to stay away from the Chandra river, besides issuing avalanche warnings asking people to stay away from steep slopes and remain vigilant in the snow.

People have been advised to stay away from the area as the flow of water in the Chandra river has resumed due to avalanches of rain and snow in the area on Tuesday morning, resulting in rising water levels. river, police said.

Commuters are also asked to use caution when traveling through snow as the risk of avalanches in snowy areas remains high, they added.

“Avoid steep slopes, be aware of dangers, travel in groups, learn about the latest weather conditions, and stay vigilant in the snow,” the advisory reads.

Adverse weather conditions resulted in the closure of 112 roads in Himachal Pradesh, including 3 national highways. Of these, 107 roads are in tribal Lahaul and Spiti districts.

While there was light snowfall at isolated places in the high mountains and tribal areas, the mid and low mountains received intermittent rainfall in the past 24 hours.
