An Atlantic low moving in from the northwest will make for a chilly Saturday night, but Sunday morning will bring “plenty of sunshine early” across most of the central and eastern regions.

The Met Office said: “Skies may remain clear across eastern Scotland and the eastern part of England until the afternoon.

“Elsewhere, cloud will increase, with some early rain followed by persistent rain around lunchtime over Northern Ireland, Scotland and western areas of England and Wales.”

It will be cloudy in the North East and it may rain at times. Scattered rain is also occurring over western areas, but elsewhere it will be sunny and mostly dry. Another cold-feeling day.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Sunday started mainly dry, but rain continued to fall from the northwest throughout the day. The start of next week will remain variable, especially in the northwest, but temperatures are slowly recovering.
