WASHINGTON: Colin Jost, co-host of Saturday Night Live’s “Weekend Update,” will get the chance to mock major political and media figures in April as a featured performer at the White House Correspondents’ Association’s annual dinner.

“His smart comedic style and sharp observation will create buzz in the national news media and across the political spectrum,” Kelly O’Donnell, president of the White House Correspondents’ Association and senior White House correspondent for NBC News, said in a statement.

Yost is a writer and comedy performer who has written for NBC’s long-running late-night comedy series since 2005. In 2014, he began co-hosting a news parody of the show with co-host Michael Che. His film credits include “Coming 2 America” and “Tom & Jerry.”

He is the author of the memoir “A Very Punchable Face.” Jost, 41, grew up in the New York City borough of Staten Island and graduated from Harvard University, where he was roommates with current Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.

Jost is married to actress Scarlett Johansson.

Traditionally, the WHCA dinner is attended by the President and First Lady of the United States, as well as senior government officials and members of the press corps, and proceeds from the dinner are used to fund scholarships for journalism students.
