Sky has agreed a one-year extension to show up to 44 Women’s Super League games in the 2024/25 season, more than any other broadcaster

Sky Sports first secured broadcast rights in 2021, signing three deals with the BBC, the terms of which have now been renewed.

Pay TV viewing has quadrupled since 2021. Sky Sports has achieved record fan attendances every season, with the Manchester derby on 23 March 2024 peaking at nearly 600,000 viewers and averaging 485,000 viewers.

Jonathan Licht, managing director of Sky Sports, said: “This is a hugely exciting time for women’s football in this country.

“Extending our partnership with the Women’s Super League to offer more matches than any other broadcaster is great news for Sky Sports customers

“Viewer numbers have grown significantly in recent years and we are proud of our contribution to the growth of the sport and wider women’s sport, with 70 per cent of live broadcasts shown on our channel last year.”

The WSL on Sky Sports joins the broadcaster’s domestic football competition every season, including 128 of the Premier League’s best games, more than 1,000 EFL games (including every game in the League Cup) and the SPFL and SWPL’s The most important game.

Manchester City currently sit first in the WSL, with defending champions Chelsea in second, three points adrift but with a game in hand.
