A fan was injured at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday after Mumbai Indians (MI) batsman Tim David’s shot hit him in the face during the IPL 2024 match against Delhi Capitals (DC). The incident occurred in the 14th over of MI’s change and the man required medical attention. David scored the sixth run on the fifth ball of the over bowled over midwicket by fast bowler Khalil Ahmed. The fan was hit hard in the face after trying to catch the ball, but the ball was knocked out of his hand.

Even DC shared a post on X to wish the fan a speedy recovery.

Coming back into the match, DC posted a massive score of 257/4 in their 20 overs after being invited to bat by MI captain Hardik Pandya.

In reply, MI could not chase down the impossible target and finished with 247/9.

Jake Fraser-McGurk led DC with 84 off 27 balls. There was no stopping DC as Shai Hope scored 41 runs in 17 balls, captain Rishabh Pant scored 29 runs in 19 balls and Tristan Stubbs scored an unbeaten 48 runs to thwart the opposition attack.

In reply, Pandya scored 46 off 16 balls, but it was the 70-run partnership between Verma and Tim David, who made 37 off 17 balls, that lifted MI’s hopes.

David was LBW to Mukesh Kumar after hitting a four and a six and Verma was run out at the start of the final over as Mumbai Indians eventually fell behind by 10 runs.

Mukesh and impact substitute Rasikh Salam took three wickets each for DC.

With the win, DC remained at fifth position while MI remained at ninth position.
