Srinagar, July 8: FCS & CA, Youth Services and Sports, IT and Transport, Minister of Satish Sharma, inaugurated the Kashmir Super Football League 2025 in addition to unveiling the tournament trophy and official jersey today.
The launch event, organized with great enthusiasm, is an important milestone in the sports calendar of Jammu and Kashmir.
Commissioner Secretary Youth Service and Sports, Sarmad Hafiz; Secretary Sports Council, Nujat Gul; Chief Sports Officer Anisa Nabi; Senior Sports Council officials, football veterans and Jammu -Kashmir, coaches, participating teams and sports enthusiasts were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Satish Sharma congratulated the Sports Department, Sports Council and other stakeholders for promoting sports activities and his tireless efforts in the construction of infrastructure in the union sector.
The minister highlighted the rich heritage of the game in Kashmir, “Kashmir has always been home to unique sports talent. Kashmir is a charming to revive the Super League and to see the initiative to celebrate that culture in a structured and professional manner.”
Satish Sharma stressed that sports is a powerful tool for drug abuse and other social evils. He said, “Youngsters are facing many challenges today and sports provide a healthy and productive options that not only creates physical fitness, but also strengthens character, discipline and teamwork. It is an advance line in our fight against drug use.”
Confirming the commitment of the government led by Omar Abdullah, the minister said that the administration focuses on upgrading the infrastructure of the game, expanding outreach in rural and border areas and building permanent platforms for youth engagement through league, tournament and ground level programs.
With six teams participating in Kashmir Super League 2025, the tournament has promised to be a celebration of talent, soul and unity.
The minister said, “We are committed to building a sports ecosystem, which nurtures talent, promotes inclusion and creates opportunities for our youth to shine nationally and international level.”
Commissioner Secretary Youth Services and Sports highlighted the importance of conducting such sports activities that provide a platform to young and aspiring players. He said that the leagues provide the expected performance to the footballers in addition to brightening their talent.
Speaking on the occasion, the Secretary Sports Council gave observation of sports activities being carried out by the council. He also gave brief information about the Super League.
The incident attracted wide public attention, with enthusiastic participation from football lovers, athletes and youth clubs, reflecting the growing popularity of football in the region.
