Samsung Galaxy S24 series is bringing back the Exynos-Snapdragon duo for various models. The Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus models launched in India come with Samsung’s in-house Exynos chipsets, whose performance has generally been below expectations in the flagship segment. The new Galaxy S24 devices get the Exynos 2400 SoC which is also said to be an AI chip like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 that you get on the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Some of you weren’t happy to see the return of the Exynos chip to the Galaxy S lineup, but recent comparisons between the two chipsets will likely ease your concerns. If you’re worried about the key performance tiers between the Exynos variants and the Snapdragon models, the latest tests show some surprising results.

Gaming tests conducted on phones using the Exynos 2400 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipsets show where both these hardware stand. And people will be happy to know that somehow Samsung has managed to bridge the gap in gaming performance of its chipsets. The Galaxy S24 Plus with the Exynos 2400 SoC and the Galaxy S24 Ultra with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset were tested using power-hungry games like Genshin Impact, PUBG Mobile, Mobile Legends, and Fortnite.

Granted, when you put them through benchmark tests via various apps, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 comes out ahead but still the difference is not huge. All these inputs suggest that the Exynos 2400 may eventually have a stronger core performance that will give users a flagship-like experience.

Such testing is typically conducted using pre-production units that have undergone numerous variations in design and structure. But with these results showing little difference in performance, we are now eager to see if Samsung actually manages to prove its mettle in the real world. We’ll know more about these improvements in the coming days as reviews start coming in from various media houses.
