Samsung launched its flagship Galaxy S24 series in January with three products – Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra. Now, the brand is said to have turned its focus to developing the Fan Edition series. The Galaxy S24 FE was rumored to be official this summer as a toned-down version of the Galaxy S24, but a Dutch outlet has now revealed that the phone’s launch has been delayed. The report also suggested a codename for the alleged device.
Galaxy Club Report claim Samsung is developing a new smartphone codenamed R12. Based on the codename pattern of previous Fan Edition smartphones, this model is believed to be related to the Galaxy S24 FE. The model number of Galaxy S23 FE is R11. The Galaxy S21 FE is the R9, while the R8 is related to the Galaxy S20 FE. It is said that the Galaxy S22 FE is codenamed R10, but the phone has not been exposed.
It was previously reported that the Galaxy S24 FE will be officially launched this summer. However, the latest report states that based on the current development status, a summer launch will not happen. It is said to be released at the end of 2024 or early next year. This release window (later this year) will coincide with the release schedule of the Galaxy S23 FE, which was announced last October and is set to expand to a number of countries in early 2024.
We haven’t heard much about the Galaxy S24 FE from reliable sources. It is said to feature a 6.1-inch AMOLED display and run on Exynos 2400 or Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, depending on the market. It could come with 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and may come in 128GB and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage options. The phone is expected to come with a 4,500mAh battery.
