Samsung brings metaverse game Wilder World to its smart TVs

South Korean tech giant Samsung has been taking small steps to participate in Web3 without directly exposing its massive user base to unstable digital assets. In a new development, Samsung has announced a partnership with metaverse game Wilder World. Through this partnership, Wilder World will provide NFT rewards to 15 customers of Samsung’s exclusive Web3 TV bundle. The deal for Wilder World will bring the game into millions of homes via Samsung smart TVs.

Wilder World is a free-to-roam metaverse ecosystem, primarily a competitive racing game, launching in alpha testing in December 2023 and will begin wider rollout this year. The team behind the game announced its partnership with Samsung via an official post on X on Wednesday.

As part of Samsung’s next exclusive Web3 TV bundle sale, 15 select buyers will receive Wilder World NFTs as rewards. Through this partnership, Metaverse Games hopes to add new players to its ecosystem.

By chasing advances in emerging technologies, Samsung is essentially seeking to connect with a new generation of customers. As a result, the Seoul-based company is integrating Web3 elements like the Metaverse and NFTs with its updated product line.

Samsung has long maintained its leadership position in the television market.According to reports, by 2023, the company occupy The global TV sales market share was 30.1%, slightly higher than the previous year’s 29.7%. With the new initiative, Samsung can bring Web3 technology directly to its large user base.

This isn’t the first time the tech giant has taken a Web3-friendly approach. For example, in April 2023, Samsung partnered with Crypto.com to provide asset trading services on the Galaxy Z Fold series of devices.

In 2022, Samsung worked with partners Theta Labs and Nifty Gateway to introduce NFTs to its smart TV and smartphone ecosystem.

In fact, in the same year, Samsung launched the world’s first TV-based NFT browser. Later that year, the company began launching smart TV models with features such as NFT purchasing and management.
