Sadhvi found murdered in Pataudi, Gurgaon

A 50-year-old ‘Sadevi’ was found murdered with his throat slit in Pataudi area on Wednesday, police said. According to police, the deceased female monk was identified as Roshni Devi from Khatkara village.

She lived in a hut near the crematorium in Mirzapur village with another monk Nafi (also known as Kamainath) from Gagana village in Sonipat district.

Nafi told police he went to get milk and when he returned to the cabin, he found Rosie injured. The female monk was found lying in a pool of blood and was taken to a hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead, police said.

A murder case has been registered at the Pataudi police station, they added.

Police said the pair had been responsible for cleaning the crematorium and relied on donations to survive. “Based on Nafe’s complaint, an FIR under IPC sections 302 (murder) and 201 (concealing evidence) was registered at the Pataudi police station on Wednesday night,” an official said.

Mahesh Kumar, sub-inspector of Pataudi police station, said: “The body of the female monk was deposited at the mortuary for post-mortem and we are investigating the matter from all angles.”
