Russia is trying to assist Iranian people: Putin

Web Desk, 24/06/2025

Tension increased in the Middle East, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Moscow is trying to help the Iranian people. His comment came during a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi.

According to a report by the Russian news agency Tass, President Putin said, “We have long, good, reliable relations with Iran. For our share, we are trying to provide assistance to Iranian people.”

Earlier, the echo of the post, Russia’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Vasili Nebenzia rapidly criticized the United States for its recent military strike on Iran, accused of opening “Pendora box” with potential consequences for global security at Washington. The comment underlined Moscow’s deep concern over its vocal opposition to the growing tension in the region and its vocal resistance to the Western military functions targeting its colleagues.

His comment came on Sunday (local time) during an emergency special session of the Security Council at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

Speaking under the agenda item “Danger to International Peace and Security”, Nebenzia condemned the US-led attacks, targeting Iran’s nuclear sites as “irresponsible, dangerous and stimulating”, amidst increasing tension between the Islamic Republic and Israel.

“Washington assured that to pursue the interests of his Israeli colleague, it is not only ready to turn an eye for the killings of the killings of thousands of Palestinian women, children and older persons, but also to gamble with the safety and welfare of humanity, through their actions, he does not know the box of a Pandora.”

The Russian envoy reiterated the repeated proposals of Moscow to mediate a peaceful solution for the Iranian nuclear issue, which he said he was ignored by the US.

He warned that the US leadership holds full responsibility for the target attacks on Iran and the consequences that they can expose.

Nebenzia said, “We insisted that our American colleagues offered our arbitration services to find a peaceful, mutually agreed solution around the Iranian nuclear program, yet our American colleagues are not clearly interested in diplomacy.”

He said, “The responsibility for today falls on the shoulders of the American leadership as long as we prevent growth, the Middle East will find itself on the verge of large -scale conflict with unexpected results for the entire international security system, as well as the whole world can end on the verge of a nuclear disaster,” he said.

Nebenzia asked all sides to practice restraint and return to diplomacy by both Israel and the United States asked for an immediate stop for aggressive tasks.

He said, “We ask for immediate termination of aggressive tasks by Israel and the United States, restraint from all sides and return to the bottom of international diplomacy and dialogue process,” he said.

The comment occurred amid growing struggle in the region after the US -led Operation Midnight Hammer, which targeted three major nuclear sites in Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan. (AI)
