summer signature Sesko will be out for about three weeks And United’s £73million signing will miss Monday’s match against Everton.
United allowed Hjolund, bought for £64m, to move to Napoli on loan in 2023 with a view to a permanent deal worth £38m at the end of the transfer window and the Dane has scored four goals for the Serie A champions.
While Amorim has other players who can operate as centre-forwards, in Brian Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Joshua Zirkzee, none are as traditional a number 9 as Hjolund.
But Amorim insisted he could not expect the 22-year-old to continue should Cesco be injured as he argued the versatile player could fill any voids.

17-year-old forward Chido Obi made eight appearances for United last season but is yet to feature this season, while Amorim admitted he was called into the squad before he was ready.
“He played last year, I think it was too early,” he said. “We didn’t have a team where we could field a 16-year-old [in]That he won’t struggle, or will struggle a little. It was completely necessary to do this but I think he started too early and sometimes it is difficult to deal with him.
