Bettiah, October 25 (IANS) BJP MP from Bettiah, Bihar, Sanjay Jaiswal has received a threat to kill his son and a ransom of Rs 10 crore has been demanded.
The city is shocked by this incident and the police is on high alert. On October 23, two unknown callers called the MP from different mobile numbers.
He warned: “Give Rs 10 crore, otherwise your son Shivam will be killed.”
Dr. Jaiswal immediately reached Bettiah Nagar police station and lodged an FIR the next day. Sadar SDPO Vivek Deep confirmed the matter. “We have registered an FIR. The MP had received a call on Friday. The criminals demanded Rs 10 crore and threatened to kill his son if he did not pay the money. We are investigating. Raids are on and we will arrest the culprits soon.”
MP’s son Dr. Shivam Jaiswal is a doctor. He has been given additional police protection. The entire police department is working day and night to catch the gang.
Just a few days ago, Sanjay Jaiswal had made a scathing attack on RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav in front of the media.
He said, “Tejashwi Yadav is used to stealing votes like in old times. But now EVM has come and the common voter decides. By the time the elections come, Tejashwi will be finished.”
Many people are wondering whether this threat is related to this political attack. But police say that it seems to be a complete case of extortion. Police teams are investigating call records, mobile location and local criminal groups.
SDPO Deep said, “We have solid leads. Arrests will be made soon.” Meanwhile, security has been tightened around the MP’s house and Dr Shivam’s clinic. CCTV cameras are being checked and plainclothes officers are on duty. People are worried in Bettiah.
“For an MP to receive such a threat shows how bold the criminals have become,” said a local shopkeeper. Police has ensured prompt action.
An official said, “No one can get away with threatening an elected leader.” Dr. Sanjay Jaiswal has appealed for calm as the investigation continues. “I have faith in the police. Justice will be done,” he said.
