American boxing legends Roy Jones Jr. believe that Terence Crawford Is a better fighter than Floyd Mayweather Jr. – based on the fact that Floyd Mayweather Jr. “challenges himself”.
Crawford made history in September when he became the first man to have undisputed reigns in three different weight classes, defeating Canelo Alvarez to win four titles at the Mexican super middleweights.
Having previously won all the belts at super lightweight and welterweight, ‘Bud’ also took titles at lightweight and super welterweight – making him a five-weight world champion.

It’s a distinction he shares with Mayweather, who claimed world championships at super featherweight, lightweight, super lightweight, welterweight and super welterweight between 1998 and 2015.
However, despite his accomplishments, Jones Jr. stated that he prefers more modern fighters than Mayweather.
Jones Jr. told Fight Hub TV: “For me, he [Crawford] Is [better] Because he challenges himself. Don’t get me wrong, Floyd is not a bad fighter, Floyd is a very fast fighter but I can’t call him a better fighter.
“I can appreciate it more because he challenges himself, you understand me? Floyd never challenged himself, so if you ask me who I want to see, Floyd or Terrence, I want to see Terrence because Terrence will challenge himself.”
Eyebrows were raised when Crawford opted to make a super-fight with Canelo, as “Bud” was jumping two weight classes.
Canelo, who lost to Mayweather in 2013, was the favorite going into the contest, but found himself outboxed by Crawford.

Mayweather retired undefeated, boasting his 50–0 record (27 KOs), although throughout his career “Money” was accused of defeating opponents or aging them. That being said, Mayweather has a number of impressive names on his CV, including Canelo, Ricky Hatton, Oscar De La Hoya and Manny Pacquiao.
Until Canelo’s involvement, Crawford was accused of lacking big names on his own record, although the 38-year-old had been avoided during the greater part of his time at welterweight before moving up through the divisions.
