Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma did not take part in any practice match ahead of Mumbai Indians’ IPL 2024 opener against Gujarat Titans on Sunday. Mumbai Indians played their first intra-squad practice match behind closed doors in Mumbai on Wednesday before heading to Ahmedabad. However, Rohit did not take part in the match and a press release from the team stated that the star batsman is currently undergoing a “customized training program including simulated net training, mobility and strength and conditioning training” ahead of the new season. .

“Rohit Sharma joined the team on Monday and has remained in Mumbai as he is undergoing a customized training program which includes simulated net training, flexibility training and strength and conditioning training for the past three days, Focusing on his pre-season training. Rohit did not participate in the practice matches,” MI said in an official release.

Rohit, who recently led India to a home Test victory over England, will be involved in the match against Gujarat Titans and will join the team in Ahmedabad later.

Earlier, Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma hugged each other during the pre-season training of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The all-rounder will take over the captaincy of Mumbai Indians (MI) from five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy-winning captain Rohit Sharma in the 2024 season.

Pandya returned to his previous team from Gujarat Titans (GT) in November last year as part of a deal between the two teams.
