Rohit Sharma makes fun of Ben Foakes, takes a dig at England’s claim of wrong catch. Look cricket news

India captain Rohit Sharma was left frustrated after England tried to claim a sloppy catch from Yashasvi Jaiswal on the second day of the fourth Test in Ranchi. The incident occurred in the 20th over of India’s innings when England were all out for 353 in the morning session. It seemed that Jaiswal passed the ball from behind to keeper Ben Fox from Ollie Robinson. However, the on-field umpire was not convinced that the catch was taken cleanly and referred the decision to the third umpire.

After some replays the third umpire decided that the ball had fallen before Fox could catch it.

After not out was shown on the big screen, England players were surprised to see the decision going against them. However, Rohit was caught on camera mocking the catch and had a strange smile on his face.

Former England batsman Nick Knight expressed sympathy towards Rohit and said that the Indian captain was a bit angry with the way the incident unfolded.

Knight described how Rohit had taken a similar catch to Joe Root, but instead of claiming it, he requested the umpire to check the replay because he was not sure whether the catch was clean or not.

Shoaib Bashir led England’s bowling with four wickets to put India on the backfoot at 219-7 at the end of the second day’s play.

Bashir thrashed England’s first innings score of 353 in a marathon spell of 31 overs without any changes over three sessions in Ranchi.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Dhruv Jurel on 30 and Kuldeep Yadav on 17 were batting at the end of the game with an unbeaten innings of 42 runs, but India still trailed the visitors by 134 runs.

In-form Yashasvi Jaiswal made 73 but was bowled by Bashir when the left-handed batsman tried to defend a low ball which grazed the toe of the bat and hit the stumps.

Bashir, who missed the opener due to visa delays and is playing his second Test, was well supported by two wickets from fellow spinner Tom Hartley.
