Jaipur, October 8 (IANS) National Democratic Party (RLP) leader and MP Hanuman Beniwal has demanded an inquiry into the fire in a collision between a truck carrying a chemical-filled tanker and LPG cylinder on the Jaipur-Ajmer National Highway.
In a statement posted on social media, Beniwal said, “I pray to God for the peace of the soul of a person who lost my life in this fierce accident and wish to get well soon the people who were burnt to get injured.”
He made serious allegations against the state’s road transport office (RTO) citing media reports, claiming that the tanker driver lost control of the vehicle due to the sudden presence of the RTO officer at the scene.
Beniwal said, “This is not the first incident where a deadly accident occurred due to RTO’s conduct. A few months ago, four members of the same family lost their lives in a similar situation due to RTO’s negligence in Dausa.”
Describing the incident as “systemic failure”, he demanded a thorough investigation into the matter from the Rajasthan government. He emphasized the need to investigate the role of RTO in such highway accidents across the state.
Beniwal also urged Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma to take the matter seriously and discuss the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH) and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
He gave immediate installation of a standard operational process (SOP) for transporting dangerous materials such as chemicals and LPG, banning random stagnation of trucks by RTO authorities on highways and directed that vehicle checks should be done only at specified, safe places. He also asked enforcement personnel to stop unnecessary harassment of truck drivers.
He said, “If the government actually examines this pattern, then there will be many cases of accidents caused by RTO misconduct.”
Beniwal, in his statement, tagged the official accounts of @Bhajanlal JJP, @morthindia, @Nhai_OFFICIAL, and @rajcmo, and urged them to take immediate corrective measures to stop such tragedies in the future.
