New Delhi: A major political controversy erupted in Bihar on Saturday when a video of an RJD rally surfaced online, showing a speaker making inflammatory statements on the Waqf Bill and urging people to ensure that Tejashwi Yadav becomes the next chief minister.
The video shared by BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari on Twitter shows a man addressing a public meeting from the RJD platform, making an open call to “tear up the Waqf Bill” if Tejashwi Yadav’s government is formed. The speaker can be heard appealing to the crowd not to fall into the trap of BJP and unite behind the RJD leader.
He is heard saying, “Don’t get misled by BJP. Those supporting the Waqf Bill should be taught a lesson. BJP, JDU, LJP – all are against us. As soon as Tejashwi Yadav becomes the Chief Minister, all such bills will be torn down, be it Waqf Bill or any other. This government will be a government of humanity and love.”
Sharing the clip, Pradeep Bhandari wrote, “If Tejashwi Yadav becomes CM, we will tear the Waqf Bill! Open declaration from RJD platform. This exposes the real agenda – bring back Jungle Raj at any cost. RJD is supporting a land mafia taking EBC and SC land in Bihar for vote bank! Bihar will reject RJD and Congress.”
This comment is likely to heat up the political atmosphere in the election state Bihar.
BJP leaders have been accusing the RJD of pursuing divisive politics and using religious sentiments to polarize voters ahead of the state elections.
It is noteworthy that a few months ago, while addressing the ‘Save Waqf, Save Constitution’ rally at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, Tejashwi Yadav had announced that if the opposition alliance is elected, it will abolish the Waqf Act.
Yadav had said, “NDA is going to be out of power in Bihar and once we form the government, we will throw the Waqf law brought by the PM Narendra Modi government in the dustbin.”
