Ricky Ponting’s gesture for KKR’s young players after the IPL 2024 match broke the internet. Look cricket news

Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting, considered one of the best players to master the art of playing the pull shot, was seen giving some valuable tips to an uncapped Indian youngster. The incident occurred during the IPL 2024 match between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Monday. After the match, DC head coach Ponting took out some time to give some tips to young KKR batsman Angkrish Raghuvanshi on how to master the art of playing the pull shot.

The video, which has gone viral on social media, was shared by IPL on its official handle on X (formerly Twitter).

The video was captioned by IPL, “Making the most of opportunities. Young Angkrish Raghuvanshi got some valuable lessons from @DelhiCapitals head coach @RickyPonting after the match.”

Raghuvanshi has made quite an impact this year after being included in the playing eleven following Nitish Rana’s injury. In five innings he has played important innings of 54, 24 and 30 runs.

After coming on as an impact substitute on Monday, he did not get a chance to bat as KKR won the match easily.

After DC chose to bat, a mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy led KKR’s disciplined bowling to restrict the hosts. The players remained drenched in sweat and fans braved the scorching heat in the colonial-era capital for 153-9.

In reply, Phil Salt chased down the target with an opening partnership of 79 runs with Sunil Narine and the two-time champions achieved their target with 3.3 overs to spare.

“It’s high risk but it’s also about taking the circumstances in your favor and not taking risks you don’t want to take,” Salt said of his aggressive game.

“You just have to keep supporting yourself and keep making the right choices.”
