The 55 -year -old Richmond Hill man is facing allegations of drug smuggling after Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officials, saying that he tried to enter the stuffed cocaine in garbage bags with millions of dollars cocaine in Canada on Ambassador Bridge from the United States.
Investigators say the agents pulled the man to inspect their commercial truck on the bridge on May 23, 2025, which connects Windsor and Michigan.
“During a secondary examination of the trailer, CBSA officials discovered two suitcases and 5 garbage bags, with a suspected cocaine of 161 bricks,” the CBSA said.
A total of 187.5 kg was seized.
“The estimated value of cocaine is $ 23.4 million.”
The driver, Kanbej Karandish was arrested and transferred to RCMP custody.
He is facing allegations of import of cocaine, and cocaine possession for the purpose of smuggling under the controlled drugs and matter act.
