'No emperor can save his chair...': Rebel MLA Jabs Himachal chief minister

Himachal Pradesh Congress rebel Rajinder Rana on Monday said no emperor can retain his seat through intimidation. A day earlier, an independent MP and the father of another rebel were booked for “electoral offenses” related to the recent federal parliament polls.

The cases were registered against Ashish Sharma, an independent MP from Hamirpur and the father of Chetanya Sharma, the now-disqualified MP from Gargret, among others, based on complaints filed by Congress MPs Sanjay Avasthi and Bhuvneshwar Gaur.

Ashish and Chetaniya were among the six Congress rebels and three independents who voted for BJP nominee Harsh Mahajan in the recently held Lok Sabha polls.

Posting an indirect attack on Facebook on Monday, Rana said, “You cannot win a battle by attacking from behind like a coward. A real warrior fights from the front… No ‘King’ can save his chair by intimidation and registering false cases .” Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sohu.

Meanwhile, six Congress rebels and three independent MLAs, who voted for the BJP candidate in the recent Lok Sabha polls, in a joint statement accused the government of registering false cases against them and their relatives to impose pressure.

They said in a statement that this went against the spirit of democracy and would not help save governments in need of ventilators, insisting they would not be intimidated by such tactics.

The development prompted a strong reaction from the disqualified MLAs.
