A multi-layered security cordon has been set up in Ayodhya for the consecration ceremony of Ram temple, with 10,000 CCTV cameras and artificial intelligence-equipped drones monitoring the movements of plainclothes police personnel and people at the venue.

From Dharam Path and Ram Path, where a huge crowd of devotees is being seen, to the streets of Hanumangarhi area and Ashrafi Bhawan Road, policemen can be seen patrolling the streets.

Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) personnel had also patrolled Ayodhya on Saturday. “As part of concerted efforts to enhance security in the temple town, Ayodhya is now under surveillance with the use of anti-mine drones as well as drones equipped with artificial intelligence,” a senior police officer said.

He said while AI-enabled drones are conducting aerial surveillance across Ayodhya, anti-landmine drones are also inspecting the ground for mines or explosives. Operating at a height of one meter from the ground, the anti-tunnel drones are equipped with advanced technology such as spectrometer wavelength detection to detect underground explosives, the official said.

Movable barricades fitted with barbed wire can be seen at almost every major intersection in the city, as policemen use them to control traffic, especially during VVIP movements.

“The consecration ceremony to be held on Monday is going to be a historic event. For this, Uttar Pradesh Police has made elaborate security arrangements and with this, security has been ensured in the entire Red Zone, Yellow Zone and every road of Ayodhya district,” said Director General (DG), Law and Order, Prashant Kumar. Technology is being used on a large scale to ensure better security arrangements at the venue of the event in Ayodhya. For this, 10,000 CCTV cameras have been installed in the entire Ayodhya district. In some of these CCTV cameras, we are using AI-based technology so that we can keep a close watch on the passengers,” the DG said.

Multilingual proficient policemen in plain clothes will be deployed at the venue. The senior police officer also said that security has also been increased along the banks of Saryu river with the help of NDRF and SDRF teams.

“We are coordinating with other agencies. Checking is going on at international and interstate borders. Police will use drones for crowd control and removal of excess crowd,” he had said.
