Jaipur, Oct 24 (IANS) Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday visited the famous Tanot Rai Mata temple located near the India-Pakistan border in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer district and prayed for the country’s security and prosperity.
The visit was part of his itinerary to review the border situation and interact with troops deployed on the western front in Rajasthan.
The Defense Minister also shared pictures of his visit on his X handle and wrote, “Feeling blessed after visiting Tanot Rai Mata temple in Jaisalmer. The energy of this temple is immense.”
Upon his arrival, Defense Minister Singh was warmly welcomed by BSF Deputy Inspector General Jatinder Singh Binji, Commandant Neeraj Sharma and Assistant Commandant Vikas Narayan Singh.
Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi and Battle X Division Commander Major General Ashish Khurana also accompanied him during the visit.
Speaking at the temple complex, Rajnath Singh expressed deep reverence for the goddess, saying, “I feel blessed to have the darshan of Tanot Mata. It is the good fortune of my life. Every soldier guarding the country’s borders draws strength from the blessings of Tanot Mata.”
The Defense Minister also visited the nearby Mahadev Temple and saw the unexploded bombs dropped by Pakistan during the India-Pakistan War of 1965, which, according to local belief, failed to explode due to the divine grace of the Mother Goddess. Rajnath Singh paid tribute to the soldiers who displayed extraordinary courage at this historical site.
Lauding the dedication of the Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, Rajnath Singh said the force is a symbol of resolve, discipline and devotion to the country.
He praised the BSF personnel deployed for securing India’s borders with unwavering commitment in extreme temperatures and challenging terrain.
Meanwhile, BSF officials said, “Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh visited Tanot Mata temple and prayed for the security and peace of the country along with BSF and Army personnel. This visit has boosted the morale of our brave soldiers. May the blessings of Tanot Mata always be with us.”
Rajnath Singh’s visit to the Tanot Mata temple located near the Longewala battlefield has both spiritual and symbolic significance, underscoring the deep emotional connection between India’s soldiers and the sacred land they protect.
