Rajasthan Royals (RR) will take on Delhi Capitals (DC) in the ninth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on Thursday, March 28 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Led by captain Sanju Samson, Royals started their IPL campaign on Sunday with a 20-run win over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at home to start 2024 on a strong note year season. RR are ranked second in the IPL 2024 points table with two points.
On the other hand, the Rishabh Pant-led Capitals will be looking to bounce back after defeating Kings XI Punjab (PBKS) by four wickets at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur on Saturday.
DC are yet to open an account and currently sit ninth in the IPL 2024 points table.
Ahead of another exciting showdown in IPL 2024, we take a look at the predicted line-ups of both sides.
RR prediction eleven
Yashasvi Jaiswal
In the first match, flamboyant opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed a quick 24 off 12 balls against LSG. Jaiswal hopes to blitz again Thursday against Washington, D.C.
If the housekeeper
Swashbuckling England batsman Jos Buttler is expected to open for the Royals again. Buttler, who was dismissed cheaply against LSG, was aiming to score high to provide the inaugural IPL champions with a perfect start.
Sanju Samson (Captain/Goalkeeper)
RR captain Sanju Samson hit the winning goal in the IPL 2024 opener. Sanju, who ranks third in batting, smashed an unbeaten 82 off just 52 balls to take RR to 193/4 in 20 overs. His knock contained three fours and a six maximum. He’ll look to continue his sparkling form against Washington, D.C.
Ryanparag
Young Riyan Parag was another outstanding batsman for Royals against LSG. Parag, along with captain Samson, scored an impressive 93 for the third wicket. The dashing right-handed batsman smashed 43 runs off 29 balls, including one four and three sixes.
Himron Heitmeyer
West Indies batsman Shimron Hetmyer will retain his place in the Royals starting XI despite losing the first match. The 27-year-old scored 300 runs in 14 games last season at a strike rate of 152.28 while averaging 37.50.
Dhruv Urel
Dhruv Jurel impressed for Royals against LSG in Jaipur. Jurel batted at No. 6, knocking 20 runs off just 12 balls to push RR to a strong total. He will aim to continue his good form against a star-studded DC bowling line-up.
Ravichandran Ashwin
Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was expensive against Lucknow Supergiants. Although Ashwin took the huge wicket of Marcus Stoinis, he conceded 35 runs in four overs. However, he will play a key role in D.C.’s starting lineup alongside a number of lefties.
Sandeep Sharma
Veteran right-arm pacer Sandeep Sharma bowled brilliantly in his debut match for RR. The Patiala-born cricketer took the huge wicket of LSG captain KL Rahul on Sunday with figures of 3-0-22-1. He hopes to add to his scoring tally against Washington, D.C.
Avish Khan
India international Avesh Khan provided economy for RR in the IPL 2024 opener. The 27-year-old right-arm fast bowler finished with some excellent bowling in Sunday’s match, finishing with figures of 3-0-21-0. He aims to pick some wickets in the upcoming matches.
Trent Bolt
New Zealand star pacer Trent Boult has been the bowling spearhead for RR since 2022. The left-arm fast bowler once again provided Royals with an early breakthrough by dismissing LSG’s Quinton de Kock and Devdutt Padikkar in the opening two overs.
Yuzvendra Chahal
Yuzvendra Chahal has taken 188 IPL wickets in just 146 games. The right-arm leg-spinner started the new season in good form again by bowling effectively against LSG. Chahal took the wicket of Deepak Hooda and finished with a score of 3-0-25-1.

David Warner
Australia’s star opening batsman David Warner will once again be the key for the DC batsmen. Warner scored 29 runs off 21 balls in the first match against PBKS. Interestingly, the left-hander is the all-time leading overseas run-getter with 6,426 runs in 177 games.
Mitchell Marsh
For DC, Australia T20I captain Mitchell Marsh will open the innings alongside Warner. In their opening match, Marsh posted a blitzkrieg of 20 off 12 balls before falling to Arshdeep Singh. He’ll be looking to score to solidify his spot in the Capitals’ starting lineup.
Shay Hope
West Indies cricketer Shai Hope is expected to retain his place in the DC starting XI. Hope finished third with 33 points on 25 balls against PBKS. His impressive knock included two fours and as many sixes.
Rishabh Pant (Captain/Goalkeeper)
DC captain Rishabh Pant has made a quiet return to cricket after 453 days. Pant came on at No. 4 and scored 18 off 13 balls before being dismissed by Harshal Patel in the 13th over. In his brief stay at the crease, Pant bowled a few good shots. He will be looking for a longer spell against RR on Thursday.
Ricky Buie
Indian cricketer Ricky Bhui may get another chance after he was dropped cheaply against PBKS in the 2024 IPL opener. After facing seven deliveries, Bui managed just three runs in the first match against Punjab in DC. If given another chance, he will be eager to impress.
Tristan Stubbs
Freshman Tristan Stubbs also returns to the Pavilion with a low score in his Washington debut on Saturday. The South African cricketer, batting at No. 6, could only add five runs from the eight balls he faced. He lost his wicket to PBKS leg-spinner Rahul Chahar. Stubbs will be eager to play against RR in Jaipur.
Axar Patel
Star all-rounder Axar Patel once again contributed with bat and ball on his debut in DC. Axar, who came on as the seventh batsman, smashed 21 off just 13 balls with two fours and a six to lead the team to a fighting total . He then struck an economical spell, finishing with figures of 4-0-25-0. Axar aims to counter RR with very few scalps.

DC all-rounder Sumit Kumar made his IPL debut against Punjab Kings at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur. While Sumit failed to impress in his debut, he may get another chance against the Royals.
Kuldeep Yadav
Left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav is DC’s main spoiler in the 2024 IPL opener. The 29-year-old took the wickets of Prabhsimran Singh and wicketkeeper-batsman Jitesh Sharma to finish with an impressive performance of 4-0-20-2. Kuldeep could cause trouble for Jaipur’s RR batsmen.
Khalil Ahmed
Khaleel Ahmed was another bowler who performed well for DC in the last game. Karel was given the new ball and later he ended his spell with a vital scalp. Despite being costly, the left-arm pacer removed Sam Curran and Shashank Singh to keep DC in the game. He will look to provide early breakthroughs against RR.
Mukesh Kumar
India international Mukesh Kumar is expected to replace the injured Ishant Sharma in DC’s starting XI on Thursday. The right-arm pacer scalped seven wickets in 10 matches for the Capitals last season. Despite Mukesh’s financial strength, he has a knack for picking wickets.
