Jaipur, Oct 25 (IANS) A high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Director General of Police (DGP) Rajeev Kumar Sharma at the Rajasthan Police Headquarters on Saturday to intensify action against organized criminal gangs operating across the state.
Senior officials from the districts and ranges most affected by organized crime – including superintendents of police, range inspectors and special unit heads – attended the meeting.
The session focused on identifying active gangs, dismantling their networks and ensuring prompt and effective legal action.
DGP Rajiv Sharma reiterated that Rajasthan Police is adopting a policy of zero tolerance against organized crime.
He stressed, “Our priority is to discourage criminals and maintain a sense of security among the public. Every police officer should work to the best of his ability to achieve this goal.”
He reaffirmed the commitment of the police to maintain public safety and effectively deal with all forms of crime through coordinated and innovative policing.
DGP Sharma directed that the action should not be limited to individual criminals but should extend to the entire network involved in threats, extortion and intimidation.
He ordered identification and prosecution of all members of organized gangs, strict action under Section 111 of CrPC against active gang members to weaken their morale, confiscation of properties and financial assets of gang leaders and their associates and strict action against those supporting or propagating gang activities, including through social media.
The DGP stressed on teamwork and inter-district cooperation, urging sharing of technology and intelligence to comprehensively neutralize gangs. Pending cases of firing, murder and intimidation were also reviewed in the meeting.
The DGP directed that priority should be given to arrests in pending cases and a special operation should be launched to search for absconding criminals. He directed the district units to immediately file charge sheets and analyze the threat-related complaints reported from various areas.
DGP Sharma said, “Any threat or atmosphere of fear created by criminals will not be tolerated at any level.”
Senior officers also shared insights and action strategies: ADG (AGTF) Dinesh MN presented a detailed plan identifying the gang members, their activities and related action framework.
ADG Biju George Joseph highlighted the importance of systematically tracking and apprehending each criminal.
ADG (Crime Branch) Hawa Singh outlined strategies to pursue past cases and dismantle the gang network.
Jaipur Police Commissioner Sachin Mittal stressed on maintaining and sharing detailed criminal records for coordinated action.
The meeting concluded with a 15-minute PowerPoint presentation that provided a comprehensive overview of gang-related activities, threats, extortion cases and organized crime trends across all districts.
