Patna, Oct 29 (IANS) As Bihar gears up for assembly elections, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday addressed a massive rally in Muzaffarpur’s Sakra constituency, where he launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the ruling NDA government and alleged that PM Modi “only cares about votes” and not the suffering of the people.

Addressing the crowd amid the rain, he said, “Narendra Modi is not worried about anything other than votes. If you ask him to dance on the stage and then promise to vote for him, he will start dancing. He can do anything to get votes.”

Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi accused the Prime Minister of playing on religious sentiments for political gains.

He alleged, “During Chhath, people were taking bath in the Yamuna river and offering prayers, while Modi was taking bath in the special swimming pool built for him. This shows that he has nothing to do with the faith of Bihar – he only wants your votes.”

The Congress MP also claimed that PM Modi is working for industrialists instead of the poor.

“After the elections, Narendra Modi will not be seen with farmers or the poor. He destroyed small industries and benefited only industrialists,” said LOP Rahul Gandhi, adding, “Our dream is to make things ‘Made in Bihar’ and not ‘Made in China’.”

Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi was also joined on the stage by Grand Alliance’s chief ministerial face Tejashwi Yadav and Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sahni.

Both leaders called on voters to “overthrow the double engine government” of the NDA, and accused it of betraying the poor and backward communities.

The Congress leader further alleged that education and employment have suffered in Bihar due to government neglect.

“Education has lost its meaning in Bihar. Paper leaks have ruined the future of hardworking youth. Biharis are forced to take loans and migrate for education and jobs. You will find them struggling to survive under the AIIMS flyover in Delhi,” Rahul Gandhi said.

He also reiterated the India Bloc’s promise to conduct a nationwide caste census and focus on social justice if elected.

He said, “We demanded caste census, but PM Modi and BJP are silent. They are against social justice. Nitish Kumar is under the control of BJP.”

Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi ended his address by urging the people of Bihar to vote for change.

“Now is the time to change this government. We will form a government that represents every caste and every religion – a government for all Indians. This is the guarantee of the Grand Alliance,” LoP Rahul Gandhi said while promising to set up one of India’s best universities in Bihar within five years.
