New Delhi: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Monday invited President of India Draupadi Murmu to attend programs organized to commemorate the 350th martyrdom day of Guru Teg Bahadur in the holy city of Sri Anandpur Sahib.
In a meeting at Rashtrapati Bhavan here, CM Mann urged the President to participate in the programs organized on this auspicious occasion.
The chief minister urged President Draupadi Murmu to be a part of the historic celebrations, adding that the modalities of his visit would be finalized soon, an official statement quoting the chief minister said.
He said that a detailed official program of events had been shared with the President and he has been requested to attend these events at his convenience.
CM Mann apprised the President that the state government has already planned several programs to celebrate this once-in-a-lifetime event in a befitting manner across the state.
The Chief Minister said that the state government will organize a grand and historic program. He hopes that these events will be organized with deep reverence and respect in the entire state. The historical events will mainly take place on the holy land of Sri Anandpur Sahib.
The Chief Minister said that the commemorative programs had started from Saturday itself after the Punjab Government performed Ardaas at Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib in Delhi and later a grand Kirtan Darbar was organized at Gurdwara Sri Rakab Ganj Sahib.
Light-and-sound shows showcasing the life and philosophy of Guru Tegh Bahadur will be held in all the districts of Punjab from 1 to 18 November.
Similarly, Kirtan Darbar will also be organized in the towns and cities that were sanctified by the darshan of Guru Sahib and on November 18, Kirtan Darbar will also be organized in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir.
The Chief Minister said that Nagar Kirtan will be taken out from Srinagar on November 19, in which hundreds of Kashmiri Pandits will participate.
Similarly, three Nagar Kirtans will be organized from Takht Sri Damdama Sahib at Talwandi Sabo in Faridkot and Gurdaspur on November 20; The four Nagar Kirtans will conclude at Sri Anandpur Sahib on 22nd November.
