People familiar with the matter revealed that Nawaz Sharif, the former prime minister of Pakistan and the supreme leader of the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N), may not form a government with the former ally Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) as the core CNN-News18It added that Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif were unlikely to go ahead with their joint plan.

On February 9, Nawaz Sharif tasked his brother and former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif with the PPP, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Fazl) (JUI-F) The meeting was held to form a coalition government during the “victory speech” to the Muslim League-North workers at the party headquarters in Model Town, Lahore.

But JUI-F Amir Fazl-ur-Rehman claimed in an interview with Pakistani media that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan Defeated by the Pakistan Army in the elections, Nawaz Sharif sat on the opposition benches with JUI-F. According to the above-mentioned person, after being interviewed, PML-N believed that despite being the largest political party, it was not appropriate to form a center government.

The above person also revealed CNN-News18 The PML-N believes it will not be easy to negotiate with the Zardars of the PPP and deal with the PTI-backed independents in day-to-day matters.

They say that despite Nawaz Sharif nominating his brother Shehbaz as prime minister earlier this week, the Muslim League-Sharif supremo now realizes it is better to sit on the opposition benches.

The people mentioned above also said that Pakistan’s spy agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) met Imran Khan in Adiala prison and reached an agreement, after which Imran nominated Omar Ayub Khan as the prime minister candidate. people. They further added that it is not an easy task for any government or establishment to deal with the PTI-led opposition while dealing with international pressure.

They said the government was finding it difficult to cope with daily demonstrations and long-distance marches by PTI cadres.

The PPP’s Zardaris has yet to comment on these developments, but in this case it appears the PML-N will be urged to withdraw from their plans, the people cited above said.

Fazl’s interview

The JUI-F emir’s interview with Pakistani media has contributed to the current rift within the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) alliance, which took over the government after ousting Imran Khan in a no-confidence motion. He said that former ISI chief Faiz Hamid asked him to support the no-confidence motion against Imran Khan and that PPP was one of the main architects of the no-confidence motion to overturn Imran Khan in 2022 .

He further added that the then Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and Hamid directed political parties to overthrow Imran Khan.

“I don’t agree with it but I support it because then the PDM will say that I saved Imran Khan,” Fazl said, adding that both the 2018 and 2024 elections were rigged.

“We have decided to protest against this vote theft. Now, the decision will be taken on the ground and not in Parliament. I do not see a future in Parliament and therefore, I invite the PML-N to sit with us,” Fazl further added.

Indian officials aware of the developments said the JUI-F emir could not make these statements without the support of the army. They said the development showed that Pakistan’s establishment had double-minded intentions and hoped that Imran Khan would form a government together with the PPP. They also said the establishment was afraid of Nawaz because of his “straightforward approach”.
