PS Plus April Game of the Month Revealed: Immortals of Aveum, Minecraft Legends, and More

Sony has announced that it will launch a series of free games on PlayStation Plus in April. Next month’s PS Plus games of the month include first-person spell shooter Immortals of Aveum, spin-off strategy game Minecraft Legends and roguelike action-platformer Skul: The Hero Slayer. Starting April 2, all three games will be available to PS Plus subscribers on the Essential, Extra, and Deluxe/Premium levels. Sony also confirmed earlier this month that the games would be coming to the PS Plus catalog, which includes NBA 2K24, Marvel’s Midnight Sun, and Resident Evil 3.

PS Plus products for April are available on PlayStation Blog Wednesday. All three games are free to play. PS Plus members can add free games to their library and have access to them as long as they have an active subscription. Remember, April’s free games will last until May 6th.

Starting in March, PS Plus Monthly Games will be available to add to PlayStation Plus members’ game libraries until April 1, after which they will exit the service. March’s free game lineup includes racing simulator EA Sports F1 23, kung fu beat ’em up Sifu, online shooter Destiny 2: Witch Queen and survival horror game Hello Neighbor 2. Immortals of Avim

EA’s first-person spell shooter Immortals of Aveum lets players don magical gloves and fire colorful spells at monsters and mages, Call of Duty style. This action-adventure shooter from Ascendant Studios plunges players into Aveum, a magical land filled with perpetual conflict. You play as Jake, a new soldier in the Eternal War who discovers his magical powers and joins an elite order of battle mages to fight back the forces of darkness.

First-person shooter fans will feel right at home in Immortals of Aveum ( review ). While there are no guns here, the spell shooting combat works in much the same way. Players have access to a range of offensive and defensive spells, and the game features a semi-open hub world where equipment, challenges, side quests, and boss battles can be explored. The game will be released on PS5.

Launched last year, the real-time strategy game is a spin-off of Mojang’s original game. Minecraft Legends has many of the same features as Minecraft, such as base building and resource harvesting. The game tasks players with defending the world from piglin invasions by building fortifications, buildings, and armies.

Once players have gathered resources and are ready for battle, they can attack Piglin outposts and repel Piglin attacks on friendly villages. The game features a single-player campaign that pits players against swine herds and bosses. Minecraft Legends also includes cooperative and competitive multiplayer PvP modes, allowing players to compete against other players online. The game is playable on PS4 and PS5.

Skull: Hero Killer

The PS Plus April lineup also includes Skul: Hero Killer, a roguelike action-platformer developed by SouthPAW Games that puts players in the role of Skul, a skeletal soldier in the Demon King’s army. As Skull, you’ll travel through twists and turns of levels and fight heroes to save demons.

Like roguelike games, Skul: The Hero Slayer features procedurally generated levels and many boss battles. Players can attack, dodge, and teleport in combat, and find new gear and abilities to become stronger. The protagonist’s skull can also be replaced with different skulls, bringing unique abilities. The action platformer is available on PS4 and PS5.

This month, Sony is also offering an Overwatch 2 Super Bundle to PS Plus members, which includes cosmetics and Battle Pass rewards. Earlier this month, PlayStation also revealed the list of games in its catalog that will be available to PS Plus Extra and Deluxe/Premium tier subscribers. Games in March include “NBA 2K24,” “Marvel’s Midnight Suns,” “Resident Evil 3,” “LEGO DC Super-Villains,” “Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot,” and more.
