Princess of Wales expected to resume official duties in June

The Princess of Wales is expected to have her first major engagement since the surgery when she looks back in June.

Catherine has been recovering from abdominal surgery for the past seven weeks and, while no date has been set for her return to official duties, she is expected to be recovering until at least Easter.

News of her alleged first engagement was revealed on the British Army website, which advertised tickets for the June 8 event with a notice that read: “Reviewed by HRH The Princess of Wales.”

The spectacle will take place on the weekend before the main procession ceremony, usually reviewed by the monarch.

The Army website said King Charles will attend the main ceremony – also known as the Birthday Parade because it marks the monarch’s official anniversary.

The princess was spotted being driven near her home in Windsor amid speculation about her health. An image circulating online shows the princess wearing sunglasses sitting in the front seat of a car driven by her mother, Carole Middleton.

While notifications from the military indicate that Catherine is expected to return to public engagements in June, only her official office, Kensington Palace, can announce her attendance at royal events. Confirmation is not expected until closer to time.

She was discharged from hospital on January 29 and is currently recuperating at her home in Adelaide Cottage, near Windsor Castle.

After she was discharged from hospital, a Kensington Palace spokesman said: “She is making good progress. The Prince and Princess would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the whole team at the London Clinic, especially the dedicated nursing staff, for the care they have provided. A Welsh family Still grateful for the good wishes from around the world.” It is understood her return to public service will depend on medical advice closer to time.

The king, who is undergoing treatment for cancer, has also postponed all public-facing duties. But he continues to work on his red box of state documents and behind-the-scenes work on some in-person meetings.

Charles was photographed at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday for a pre-budget meeting with chancellor Jeremy Hunt, ahead of the politician making a major financial announcement on Wednesday.
