Princess Beatrice has experienced the loss of a once-special someone, while her mother Sarah Ferguson battles cancer.
The princess, 35, is reportedly devastated following the tragic death of her former boyfriend and her first significant romantic relationship, Paolo Liuzzo, 41.
Liuzzo was found dead in Miami in February, reportedly of a suspected drug overdose. Although this news came to light only recently, insiders reveal that Liuzzo struggled with drug and gambling addictions, having accumulated significant debt with lenders.
Their relationship began in 2005 when Beatrice was just 17 years old. News of Liuzzo’s passing came shortly after Beatrice’s mother, Sarah Ferguson, revealed her skin cancer diagnosis.
Liuzzo had a checkered past, part of which was revealed when it was revealed that he had formed a relationship with Beatrice after they were seen together on a skiing holiday in Verbier, Switzerland.
Their romance was controversial at the time. It was found that he had traveled to Switzerland despite a probation order relating to the alleged murder of a student during a drunken fight in the United States several years earlier.
This led to Fergie publicly defending her daughter, saying: “We all have our own journeys and we have to learn in our own way but Beatrice is a smart girl.”

A friend of his told The Sun: “Paolo was not doing well on a personal level. He liked partying and gambling. He started out using a lot of pharmaceutical drugs, but later switched to cocaine and harder drugs. It was a very fast lifestyle and we were all afraid it would eventually catch up with him.”
His funeral took place on 16 February in his native Long Island, New York.
After their romance ended, Beatrice had several other boyfriends, including Uber executive Dave Clark, whom she dated for about 10 years. However, in 2020, she married property developer Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in an intimate service in Windsor.
They have a daughter named Sienna and Beatrice, and is also stepmother to Edo’s elder son Wolfie, whom he shares with ex-fiancée Dara Huang.
