Prince William makes first appearance since news of wife Kate's cancer

William is an avid football fan and supports Aston Villa in Birmingham

London:

Prince William made his first public appearance since his wife Catherine announced she had cancer, attending a football match between Aston Villa and Lille with son Prince George.

The 41-year-old heir to the British throne was pictured smiling and clapping with his 10-year-old son George as his side Aston Villa won 2-1 in the Europa League quarter-final first leg on Thursday night.

The Princess of Wales, 42, announced last month that she was undergoing treatment for cancer discovered after abdominal surgery.

William’s father, King Charles III, has revealed that he is undergoing treatment for an unspecified form of cancer.

The king is carrying out official duties behind closed doors but is not conducting public events. He did attend the Easter Sunday service, however.

William is an avid football fan and has supported Aston Villa in Birmingham since his schooldays. He is also chairman of the Football Association (FA).
