Every time Kate Middleton and Prince William have to stay at their official residence at Kensington Palace, they have an unusual arrangement.

The palace is built around three courtyards and has four floors, the most famous of which belongs to the couple, as detailed by royal author Christopher Warwick in A true royal royal beat.

“All of these royal residences at Kensington Palace are called apartments, which of course makes people immediately think they are apartments, as in American terminology,” Warridge explains, adding, “But the truth is it’s not true.”

He explains that the “wonderful red-brick terraced houses” are “all joined together but are separate houses”.

Although William and Kate moved to Adelaide Cottage in September 2022 to live a quieter life, their official residence remains Apartment A1 in the palace.

According to the floor plan of the apartment they moved into in 2017, the bedroom was “unusually” located downstairs.

Elsewhere, Anmer Hall on the Sandringham estate, which the couple received as a gift from the late Queen Elizabeth, has undergone some strange changes following their £2 million renovation. Mirror.

According to royal author Sally Bedell Smith, the Queen can’t understand why William and Kate make the kitchen the centerpiece of their home.
