Prince William and Kate Middleton issue joint statement after breaking news

Prince William and Kate Middleton have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support from around the world after the news broke on Friday.

On Saturday, a Kensington Palace spokesperson issued a statement people magazine “The Prince and Princess have been deeply moved by the message of goodwill from people across the UK, across the Commonwealth and around the world in response to their Royal Highnesses’ message.”

“They have been overwhelmed by the public’s enthusiasm and support and appreciate the understanding of their privacy request at this time,” the statement continued.

The Princess of Wales finally broke her silence on her health and months-long absence in a video message on Friday, revealing she had been diagnosed with cancer.

While the royal didn’t specify what type of cancer it was, she explained that post-operative tests following abdominal surgery “revealed that the cancer was already present.”

Kate called it a “huge shock” but assured the public she was “fine” and “getting stronger every day.”

Following Kate’s statement, a Kensington Palace spokesperson also said that no further private medical information would be shared because the princess “has the right to medical privacy like all of us.”
