Duke prepares to visit UK without Meghan Markle next week

Despite facing significant scrutiny, Prince Harry has stood firm on his decisions regarding the Invictus Games.

Harry will be in the UK next week to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games before hosting the event in Canada next year.

However, Duke’s involvement in the Games is under scrutiny, with organizers revealing that only two cities are being considered to host the 2027 event: Washington DC in the US and Birmingham in the UK.

A definitive decision on the venue is expected to be made in the coming weeks, but a move to the previous host city has now been confirmed.

Lord Allen, Chairman of the Invictus Games Foundation, said in a statement: “We are delighted to have received such a strong field of applications to host the Invictus Games in 2027, which gives us tremendous confidence for this next iteration of the Games after the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 is presented by ATCO and Boeing.

“Both cities now shortlisted for 2027 have put the experiences of competitors and supporters at their core, creating distinct but extremely exciting bids. We look forward to the next stage of the process and to selecting another inspiring iteration of the Games this summer.” Looking forward to it.”

The announcement comes as reports suggest around 2,000 ex-servicemen have left the game claiming that the program has “lost its original meaning”. It was started by Harry in 2014 to assist wounded, injured and ill service personnel and veterans.

Some people have also reportedly taken issue with Meghan Markle’s involvement, claiming it is becoming “too royal”. However, despite the alleged pleas, one PR expert believes that Harry would have no intention of abandoning his project.

Ryan McCormick told us: “”Harry had no problem being honored as a ‘Legend of Aviation’ in January, so I don’t think he will heed calls to withdraw from the Invictus Games.” Ryan suggested that Stepping down could be a loss, however, for Harry.

He added: “If the Duke did do it though and said it was in honor of veterans, it could give quite a boost of positive PR.”
