Andrew’s past ‘caught up with him’ amid row at home

The co-author of Virginia Giuffre’s memoirs says Prince Andrew’s behavior is “getting to her” as she reportedly discusses leaving her Royal Lodge home.

The king’s brother is said to be in talks with Charles’s representatives about voluntarily leaving the Royal Lodge after an uproar over the “peppercorn” rent for his 30-room mansion, but is reluctant to give up his residence of more than 20 years.

The prince gave up the title of Duke of York and other honors last Friday ahead of the publication of Ms Giuffre’s posthumous memoir following allegations that he sexually abused her.

The Daily Telegraph said the key points in the negotiations were the location of their new home and financial compensation for the money spent on the lodge.

Amy Wallace, co-author of the book, said Ms Giuffre wanted “rich, powerful people to be held accountable”.

In an interview with The Associated Press, she said: “What we are seeing is Prince Andrew’s life being destroyed because of his past behavior.

“Although he is not being tried in court, his behavior is catching up with him”.

Ms Wallace said Andrew could still come forward with what he knew about late pedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein and help victims of sexual abuse.

He added, “He still denies what’s in the book. But it’s not too late.”

Prince Andrew has lived in the 30-room Royal Lodge mansion in Windsor Great Park for more than 20 years.

A copy of the leasehold agreement shared by the Crown Estate shows Andrew signed a 75-year lease on the property in 2003.

This revealed that he paid £1 million for the lease and since then he has paid “one peppercorn” per year as rent “on demand”.

If Andrew leaves the Royal Lodge where might he go?

Prince Andrew is reportedly discussing voluntarily leaving the Royal Lodge following the uproar over the “peppercorn” rent for his 30-room mansion.

The obstacles to reaching an agreement are reportedly over where Andrew, who is eighth in line to the throne, will live and what financial compensation he will receive for the money spent renovating the house.

The King’s private Balmoral estate in Scotland and his Sandringham estate in Norfolk are potential properties in which Andrew could be housed but whether he would accept a smaller home away from his servile daughters remains to be seen.
