Pornhub, XVideos, Stripchat face tough EU rules

EU executives said Pornhub and Stripchat must comply with these DSA obligations.

Brussels:

Adult content companies Pornhub, Stripchat and XVideos must submit risk assessment reports and take steps to address systemic risks associated with their services to comply with new EU online content rules, the European Commission said on Friday.

In December, the three companies were designated as large online platforms under the Digital Services Act (DSA), which requires them to do more to remove illegal and harmful content from their platforms.

The EU executive said Pornhub and Stripchat must comply with DSA obligations on April 21, and XVideos must comply with the strictest obligations on April 23.

“These specific obligations include submitting risk assessment reports to the committee and implementing mitigation measures to address systemic risks associated with the provision of services,” it said in a statement.

The companies must also meet additional transparency obligations, including those related to advertising, and provide researchers with access to data.

Companies that breach the DSA face fines of up to 6% of their global annual turnover.
