Police rescue 14-year-old girl after jumping into drain in Navi Mumbai

The officer said that bystanders had alerted the police and some personnel reached the spot and talked to him before he jumped.

The life of a 14-year-old girl who jumped into a drain in Taloja area was saved due to timely action by Navi Mumbai Police, an official said on Monday. The official said that the incident took place in Taloja Phase-2 area on Sunday morning.

In a video surfaced on social media, the girl is seen standing on the bank of a small bridge over a drain, people standing nearby are trying to convince her to get down from there. Despite repeated requests, he finally jumped from the bridge into the drain.

The officer said that bystanders had alerted the police and some personnel reached the spot and talked to him before he jumped. He said that the police managed to save the girl from the drain.

According to the police, the girl had argued with her mother and did not want to go home. The girl was taken to nearby Kamothe hospital and given first aid, the official said, adding that her condition is stable.
