Police believe they have contacted all the families of the 35 remains recovered from a Hull funeral home during a recent raid.

Humberside Police said experts and National Crime Agency advisers were working on the case and wanted to establish “whether the ashes found are indeed human ashes”.

The hotline has so far received more than 1,500 calls from people using traditional independent funeral homes.

Two people – a 46-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman – Arrested Alleged obstruction of lawful and dignified burial, fraud by misrepresentation and fraud by abuse of position.

They have since been released on bail and investigations continue.
