Srinagar, July 12, KDC, In a major step towards ending the threat of drugs and ending the financial infrastructure that supports the drug trade, Srinagar Police has attached assets worth more than ₹ 1 crore under the drug and psychotropic substances (NDPS) Act.
Attached property-a two-storey residential house, which is around about 1.03 crore-Alli Masjid is located in the Idgah area and belongs to Mir Roman, son of Mohammad Hashim Mir. The accused is involved in a narcotic case registered under FIR No. 136/2024 under Section 8/22 and 29 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Safakadal.
According to police, Roman is a repetition criminal with the history of drug pedaling and is actively targeting local youth, posed to a serious threat to public health and social stability. The investigation confirmed that the seized property was acquired using income from smuggling illegal drugs.
While working under sections 68-E and 68-F of the NDPS Act, the police formally confiscated the property after completing the necessary legal procedures. The property is now frozen and can not be sold, transferred, or otherwise dealt with without pre -approval from the competent authority.
This action is part of an intense crack launched by Jammu and Kashmir Police against the drug network, with special attention to disrupt their financial operations.
The Srinagar police reiterated their commitment to continue strict action against drug smugglers and urged the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities. A police spokesperson said, “Public support is important in ensuring a drug-free, safe and healthy Srinagar. Along with, we can build a society free from drug abuse,” a police spokesperson said. (KDC)
