Hong Kong police have arrested a passenger following an incident mid-flight on a Cathay Pacific flight from Boston to Hong Kong. The man had allegedly attempted to open an aircraft door on December 10, officials said Friday.
Cathay Pacific confirmed that no passengers or crew were injured, and the flight landed safely on Thursday morning. The incident is now being handled by the Hong Kong Police.
“Our cabin crew immediately took notice of the situation, inspected the door to ensure it was closed securely and reported the incident to the relevant authorities and police,” Cathey said. “The matter has been handed over to the police for investigation. At Cathay, the safety of our customers and crew guides our every decision.”
Hong Kong police confirmed the incident, saying a 20-year-old male from mainland China was arrested on Thursday morning on suspicion of violating the aviation security ordinance.
