Patna, October 26 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the nation for the 127th time through his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program, wished the countrymen a happy Chhath festival and described this festival as a living example of inclusivity.
Appreciating the rich customs and deep devotional fervor during the four-day festival, he said, “Chhath Mahaparva is a reflection of the deep unity between culture, nature and society. Every section of the society comes together at Chhath Ghats. This scene is the most beautiful example of social unity of India.”
PM Modi’s good wishes boosted the enthusiasm of the ‘Chhath Vratis’ as well as lakhs of devotees who are celebrating the festival with utmost devotion with their families, especially in Bihar and surrounding states.
Many people, especially from Bihar, expressed gratitude to PM Modi for sharing his views on Chhath festival and said that it has added enthusiasm and happiness to their celebrations.
Manmeet Akela of Hazaribagh said Chhath preparations are going on in most houses and people have gone to the market to buy fruits and utensils on the second day – called Kharna.
He said, “PM Modi’s mention of Chhath Puja in his Mann Ki Baat will increase its importance. A festival which was known only to Bihar and Jharkhand, today people will be more curious to know about it and its significance.”
Anoop Chandravanshi said that Chhath has always been a festival of unity and inclusivity.
He said, “Yesterday PM Modi congratulated the nation on this occasion and today he mentioned it in his Mann Ki Baat address. This will increase the popularity of Chhath festival.”
Vishwanath Soni said that he and his family have been listening to Mann Ki Baat since the beginning.
He said, “We would like to thank the Prime Minister for such a congratulatory message. In today’s Mann Ki Baat, he emphasized on many things. After his call for Swadeshi, the entire country celebrated Diwali with Swadeshi products. This shows his popularity. Because of his efforts, Chhath will become a globally celebrated festival.”
